Working Group 7: Software
Working Group 7 'Software' is one of WELMEC's general working groups. The goals of WG 7 are to harmonise type approval practice and equivalent conformity assessment procedures with respect to software and IT-components that are critical for the metrological characteristics of a measuring instrument.
On the basis of European Directives (Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (2004/22/EC) and Directive 2014/31/EU (90/384/EEC)), relevant international Standards and OIML Recommendations WG 7 is
- developing and updating respective guidance for any party involved
- considering state-of-the-art and upcoming information technologies to develop harmonised procedures and new WELMEC Guides
- considering contemporary threats to IT systems as part of a measuring instrument
Instrument specific software requirements are developed in the individual working groups to be afterwards discussed in WG 7 and included in WELMEC Guide 7.2 'Software'.
Representatives from WELMEC members, the instrument specific WELMEC working groups, NoBoMet, OIML, European Commission and European industry associations participate in WG 7 'Software'.
